How to convert Excel to PDF
Have the workbook saved on the phone or computer you are using. If a sheet is wider than a page, sort out its layout in Excel first, as the guide below explains.

Add the workbook
Drag the Excel file into the upload area, or use the Browse file button to find it on your device.

Click Convert to PDF
The whole workbook is sent in one go, and the results page opens when the PDF is ready.

Press Download beside the file name. The PDF is named after the workbook, so budget.xlsx is saved as budget.pdf.

Converting Excel to PDF with the right page layout
Our server opens the workbook in LibreOffice Calc, the spreadsheet program in the free LibreOffice suite, and prints it to PDF. All visible sheets go into the one PDF in the order of their tabs, and each sheet starts on a new page. Hidden sheets are skipped: our test workbook had five sheets, two of them hidden, and the PDF held only the other three.
Each sheet is printed with its own page setup from the workbook, so Excel is where you fix the layout. To print only part of a sheet, select the cells, then on the Page Layout tab choose Print Area and Set Print Area. When we set a print area of A1:E10 on a 30-column sheet, the PDF showed those 50 cells and nothing else.
Sheets wider than one page
With no scaling set, the columns that don't fit run on to further pages. Our 30-column test sheet became 5 portrait A4 pages, and a longer sheet was printed down the first columns before moving across. Fit to 1 page wide put all 30 columns on a single landscape page, but the 11 point text came out under 4 points, so a very wide sheet can read better over two pages.
Formulas, number formats and dates
Formula cells print their results, so a SUM of three amounts showed as $3,819.75 and not as the formula. Currency, percentage and date formats print the way they are set in the cell. A date in a column too narrow to hold it prints as ###, so widen the column before you convert.
Gridlines, borders and charts
Gridlines only appear on sheets where Print is ticked under Gridlines on the Page Layout tab. Cell borders, fill colours, font colours and merged cells print either way. Charts are drawn as shapes, not pictures, so they stay sharp when zoomed, but a chart that crosses a page break is cut in two.
Calibri and other Office fonts
LibreOffice on our server swaps Calibri, the default font in Excel, for Carlito, a free font built to the same character widths. Arial became Liberation Sans, Cambria became Caladea and Times New Roman became Liberation Serif. Verdana, Aptos and a font name we made up all came out in Noto Sans.
Password-protected and damaged workbooks
We couldn't convert a workbook locked with an open password, or a damaged .xlsx. Remove the password in Excel under File, Info, Protect Workbook, Encrypt with Password, then save and upload the file again. To lock the finished PDF, use Add PDF Password.

Tested: 16 October 2026. Converted a workbook with five sheets, two of them hidden: the PDF had the three visible sheets in tab order. Converted a 30-column sheet three ways, with no page setup (5 pages), in landscape with Fit to 1 page wide (1 page) and with a print area of A1:E10 (those cells only). Converted a budget sheet with borders, merged cells, currency, percentage and date formats, a SUM formula and a bar chart, a sheet set in seven fonts, and an old .xls file with two sheets and a formula. A password-protected .xlsx and a damaged .xlsx gave no usable PDF. Each conversion took 2 to 4 seconds.
