Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 2026
In short
We are a tool. Your files stay your responsibility.
ChangeMyFile is a browser toolkit for working with files. It is not a storage, backup, or archiving service.
- →No account. We do not ask for your name, email address, or any other details to use the tools.
- →Files are temporary. Some tools work inside your browser and never upload the file. The rest upload it, process it, and delete it automatically afterwards.
- →No backups. We do not keep backup copies of your files and cannot recover one once it is removed. Keep your own copy.
- →We do not sell your data. The site is paid for by ads. Ad and analytics cookies come from Google, not from us.
1. Who this covers
This policy applies to changemyfile.com, run by ChangeMyFile ("we", "us"). It explains what data we handle when you use the site and the choices you have. It does not cover other websites we link to, or the services of Google and other providers named below, which have their own privacy policies. The site is not aimed at children under 13.
2. Your files
Some tools work inside your browser, so the file is not uploaded to us. The others upload the file over HTTPS so our servers can process it, and a few of those pass it to an outside AI service, which receives the file only to perform the task. The Security page lists which tools do which.
Uploaded files and the results are kept only long enough to process them and let you download the result, then deleted automatically, normally within 24 hours. Processing is automated; we do not review the contents of your files as part of it, and we do not use them for anything other than the task you asked for.
3. Other data we handle
Request data
We do not use logs to track or identify visitors. To deliver the site and protect it from abuse, our hosting providers process standard request data, such as your IP address and browser.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics, loaded through Google Tag Manager, to count visits and see which pages and tools people use. Google processes your IP address and device information for this. See the Cookies section below for how to opt out.
When you contact us
If you email us or use the form on the Contact page, we keep your message and address for as long as we need them to reply and deal with the matter. The form is hosted by Google Forms, so Google also processes what you enter.
4. Why we handle it
We process your files to carry out the task you asked for. We use request data and analytics to run the site, keep it secure, and understand how it is used. Advertising cookies are used with your consent where the law requires it. We answer messages because you asked us to.
5. Who we share it with
We do not sell your files or your personal data, and we do not share your files with anyone except as needed to process them. The main providers involved are:
- Cloudflare, which hosts the site and stores uploads for the file converter and the video tools.
- Google, for analytics, advertising and the contact form.
- An AI model provider, for the tools listed on the Security page as using one.
- The hosting provider that runs our processing servers.
We may also disclose data if the law requires it or to protect the site and its users. These providers may process data outside the country you are in, including outside the EU and UK.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to how we use it, to receive a copy of it, and to withdraw consent you have given. You can also complain to your local data protection authority. If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what we collect, to ask for it to be deleted, to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, and not to be treated differently for using these rights. We do not sell personal information; advertising cookies may count as "sharing" under California law, and the opt-out links in the Cookies section apply.
Because there are no accounts and files are deleted automatically, we often hold nothing that can be linked to you. To make a request, use the Contact page. We may ask for enough information to confirm the request relates to you.
8. Security
Connections to the site and uploads use HTTPS, and files are removed when they are no longer needed. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so please do not upload anything you cannot afford to have exposed, and keep your own copy of anything that matters.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the site or the law changes. The date at the top shows the latest revision. If you keep using the site after a change, the updated policy applies.
