ChangeMyFile has been trusted by users since 2021. This page explains exactly what happens to your file when you upload it — and what we do to ensure it stays private.

We are a tool — your data is your responsibility
ChangeMyFile is a file conversion tool, nothing more. We do not act as a storage provider, backup service, or custodian of your data.
- →24-hour deletion: All files are automatically and permanently deleted within 24 hours — no exceptions.
- →No backup: We do not back up, store, or recover your data. Once deleted, it is gone.
- →No monitoring: We do not monitor, analyse, or review your file contents. Conversions run automatically.
- →Your legal responsibility: Ensure all files you upload comply with applicable laws. We are not responsible for your content or legal compliance.
What happens when you upload a file
Encrypted upload
Your file is transmitted over HTTPS (256-bit TLS). It cannot be intercepted in transit.
Isolated conversion
The conversion runs inside a dedicated Docker container. Your file is not accessible to other users, other processes, or any member of our team.
Converted file served to you
The converted file is made available for download via a unique, time-limited link.
Permanent deletion
Both the original and converted file are permanently deleted from our servers within 24 hours of processing — regardless of whether you downloaded them.
Our privacy commitments
No account required
No email address, no registration, no login. We have no way to identify you.
No file monitoring
Conversions are fully automated. No human ever opens, views, or analyses your files.
No data selling
We earn from advertising. Your files, metadata, and conversion history have no value to our business model.
No backup copies
We do not create or retain backup copies of your files. Deletion is permanent.

Recommendations for sensitive files
While we take every precaution to protect your files, here is what we recommend when converting sensitive content:
